Management Team

Our management team brings almost 200 years of experience in the medical device, cardiology, neurology, and emergency medicine specialties. We have experience in medical device product development, launch and management as well as in running entrepreneurial businesses. The team includes:

Robert J. Freedman Jr., M.D., F.A.C.C.
President / Chief Executive Officer

 

Founder of LRS, Tulane University School of Medicine, post-graduate at Baylor College of Medicine, Flight Surgeon Training USAF School of Aerospace Medicine and Cardiology at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Freedman is the founder and managing partner of Freedman Memorial Cardiology in Alexandria, LA where he practices interventional cardiology.

He holds a clinical Assistant Professorship at Tulane, has authored or co-authored more than 25 scholarly works, is a fellow and served on the Board of Governors for the American College of Cardiology.

     

Milton Frank
Chief Operating Officer

 

Co-founded the Xylog Corporation in 1979, an OEM manufacturer of turnkey electronic equipment. In 1987, deciding to concentrate in the medical field, Frank and a partner formed Meditron Devices to market directly to hospitals and gastroenterologists. They merged Meditron with Xylog, which pursued private label OEM medical contracts in all medical specialties. In 1992, the company was sold to BEI Electronics, a San Francisco-based public company, to serve as the foundation for BEI’s entry into the medical device industry. Frank became Vice President of R&D for that venture and was responsible for the development of all new products.

He is also President and CEO of NEXCORE Technology, a company he formed in 1999, to provide a suite of services from concept development through manufacturing to medical device marketers.

The holder of numerous patents, Frank received both B.S. and Masters Degrees in electrical engineering from the City College of New York.

     

Robert B. Schock, Ph.D.
VP, Research and Development

 

Co-founder of LRS, B.S., M.Eng., Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Dr. Schock has over 20 years of experience leading R&D groups in cardiac assist, critical care and anesthesia.

He was responsible for the introduction of the world’s first true sheathless and 8Fr intra-aortic balloon (IAB) catheters, and co-invented the Fidelity 8Fr IAB catheter. He was the Director of Advanced Research for the Cardiac Assist Division at Datascope Corp. and managed the R&D Group in Critical Care and Anesthesia for Mallinckrodt. He has authored over twenty U.S. patents and numerous publications.

     

Marc L. Cote
Director, Research and Development

 

B.S. Biomedical Engineering NY Institute of Technology and is a certified EMT. He has 12 years of R&D experience in cardiac assist devices from Datascope Corp.

     

William J. Ohley, Ph.D.
Director of Scientific Research

 

B.S. and M.S. Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. Electrical Engineering. Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. He has worked for leading medical device companies developing control strategies for cardiac assist devices and has served as a consultant to many businesses and governmental agencies in the general area of medical electronics. He has authored in excess of 80 scientific papers. He is a member of the National Institutes of Health Study Section on Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

     

Richard Hettenbach
Director of Quality Assurance
 and Regulatory Affairs

 

Over 30 years experience in Pharmaceutical R&D, Medical Device Quality Assurance, Regulatory and Clinical Affairs. B.S. Rutgers University, Masters Degree in Molecular Biology. Started career at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in the Preclinical Safety Assessment area. Previous experience as Regulatory Manager for C.R. Bard, Sr. Director of RA/QA for Consumer Product Testing Company and VP of RA/QA for Ackrad Laboratories. Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and Regulatory Affairs Certified (RAC).
